Meeting of English Language Department

Under the sponsorship of Dean Dr. Ismail Hamed, Dr. Khalid Al-Qutub Al-Shahawi, Head of the Department of English Language and Literature at the College of Arts and Humanities at the Islamic University of Minnesota, held a meeting with faculty members on Sunday, Shawwal 8, 1444 AH, corresponding to April 6, 2025, at 10:00 PM Mecca time.
The meeting, coinciding with the start of the summer semester, was dedicated to discussing arrangements for this semester after welcoming new faculty members. The attendees addressed course descriptions and faculty suggestions regarding these descriptions, emphasizing the importance of covering course requirements. It was noted that students who have not studied "Composition 1" and "Composition 2" cannot be accepted in the "Composition 3" teaching group. The necessity of conducting a "Placement Test" for students before joining the English department was also discussed.
Furthermore, the meeting highlighted the need to assign courses based on the specializations of faculty members, along with proposed strategies for professional development. The importance of using university email by faculty members was emphasized, as well as encouraging them to publish research in accredited journals under the university's name. Additionally, the need to complete assigned tasks for students early due to the short duration of the summer semester was stressed.
Attendees included Dr. Abdulrahman Abu Al-Majd, Dr. Ibrahim Salem, Dr. Nour Saad, Dr. Siddeeq Ahmed, and Dr. Suad Qasar, reflecting the department's commitment to enhancing the educational process and improving academic performance.
