In its ongoing efforts to enhance the educational process and improve learning outcomes, the Marketing Department at the Islamic University of Minnesota, main campus, held an extensive meeting on Monday, May 12, 2025, chaired by Dr. Khaled Basreeda, the department head, with members of the curriculum committee. The meeting aimed to discuss the implementation mechanism for the "University Book" project, which is one of the strategic initiatives launched by the university to unify and update scientific content in accordance with academic quality standards.
The meeting, held at 9:30 PM Mecca time, began with an opening speech from the department head, who welcomed the committee members and expressed his gratitude for their joining this vital department, which is relied upon to contribute to knowledge dissemination and the development of scientific research in the field of marketing.
Dr. Basreeda emphasized the university's commitment to enhancing education quality and keeping pace with scientific and technological advancements to provide an exceptional educational experience that meets contemporary demands. He noted that the University Book project is under the esteemed sponsorship of the university's Vice President, with direct supervision from the Deputy Vice President, and supported by the Dean of the college, who stressed the need for its completion with high quality and within a short timeframe.
The meeting addressed two main topics: the confirmation of the curriculum committee's tasks and its formation. Within this topic, the roles assigned to each committee member and the distribution of responsibilities were discussed. The second topic involved discussing the work mechanism to achieve the project's goals, during which several practical proposals were presented to facilitate project implementation and ensure its quality, with an emphasis on the importance of teamwork and continuous communication.
The attendees reached a set of decisions and recommendations that represent an initial roadmap for implementing the project, most notably adopting the "Principles of Marketing" course as a prototype for applying the university book concept, and collaborating among committee members to provide relevant references and scientific sources for the course. They agreed on a balanced distribution of course chapters among committee members, considering their specialties and expertise, and highlighted the importance of involving other department members in the review and editing processes to ensure content quality.
In closing, the department head expressed his gratitude to the committee members for their attendance and active participation, assuring his confidence that the project will result in an exceptional academic product reflecting the college's and university's aspirations for educational excellence. The meeting concluded at 10:15 PM, with the hope of continuing to work at a progressive pace to achieve the desired results.
