Latin American Studies Unit
This unit is dedicated to the studies related to Latin America within the framework of the Academic Studies Center at the College of Arts and Humanities. The unit aims to achieve several important objectives for researchers and students in a scientific manner, including:
- Focusing on Latin American studies in various specialized fields and research areas such as history, sociology, religion, etc.
- Highlighting Arab and Islamic issues in Latin American countries and making them the subject of scholarly discussion and study. These topics hold great importance in academic studies at universities and research centers worldwide.
- Organizing scientific and academic courses for students and researchers who are interested in delving into Latin American studies across different disciplines.
- Granting specialized scientific diplomas in fields related to Latin American studies.
- Developing specialized researchers in the field of Latin American studies.
- Training academic researchers in the Spanish language through the Language and Translation Center, as Spanish is widely spoken in those countries.
- Developing and educating students, especially Arabs and Muslims affiliated with the University of Minnesota, about the culture of Latin American countries and their historical contributions.
- Developing outreach programs that contribute to the spread of Islam in those countries, based on balanced approaches that incorporate knowledge of history, customs, and cultures of the people in those countries.
- Encouraging researchers to conduct further research to find avenues for mutual understanding and cooperation between peoples, as Islamic and Arab culture has gained significant interest from both Arab and Islamic countries and Latin American countries.
