Department head’s speech
The Department of Journalism for Postgraduate Studies is considered one of the departments of the College of Mass Communication. The Islamic University of Minnesota is one of the most important departments concerned with graduate studies and research in the field of journalism. The department seeks to provide an opportunity for students of science, those interested and concerned to continue the path of those who came before them in searching for results for many research problems related to journalism and seeking to reach results that benefit societies and can be generalized and applied to develop solutions. For many research problems in light of the crisis of global journalism and its problems, and also in line with what has been found by rapid technological developments, changing patterns of reading, the readership, and various influences, and working to find solutions to create a state of balance, professionalism, and credibility away from being led by scoops at the expense of commitment to the charters and ethics of the profession and activating self-censorship. It is the control of conscience.
The department aims to graduate a generation of distinguished academics who have the ability to serve their countries and communities and who have the ability to provide the public with news, information, analyses, and explanations.
The department could not have achieved this had it not been for the fact that it includes the best cadres of doctors from all over the world, has a wealth of deep and solid scientific courses, and follows a precise and solid scientific methodology.
The college is headed by a distinguished scholar and distinguished expert, His Excellency Professor Dr. Abdul Karim Al-Wazzan. And the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Science, His Excellency Professor Dr. Abdul Salam Al-Wahati, and a distinguished scientist and professor, Director of Postgraduate Studies, who is Professor Dr. Hanan Obaid, a college director and a training and stage director with abundant abilities and skills, is Dr. Badia Abdel Qader.
