Department head’s speech

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all worlds. He revealed the Quran in a clear Arabic language. Peace and blessings be upon the truthful and trustworthy Prophet, whom Allah sent as a mercy to the worlds, better than anyone who spoke with eloquence. Now, the importance of teaching the Arabic language is significant. This importance is evident as Arabic is the language of the Holy Quran. Despite the diversity of languages in the world throughout history, Arabic remains one of the oldest and most deeply rooted languages, preserving its spread and richness since ancient times.

The Arabic Language Department at the University of Minnesota believes in the greatness of this language. It has taken upon itself the honor of teaching and spreading it among its students, whether they are native speakers or non-native speakers. Therefore, when teaching the Arabic language, it is necessary to train experts and qualified teachers capable of conveying the language to the target audience in the simplest and easiest ways. These qualified individuals should possess a good command of the language, enabling them to teach it effortlessly, along with a solid knowledge of their historical and cultural sciences.

A good experience is also necessary to enable them to perform their tasks smoothly, set educational goals for each level, and facilitate their efforts to achieve them. Thus, the Arabic Language Department seeks to outline the roadmap for disseminating this language and preparing students to become qualified agents capable of spreading the language of the Quran and its etiquette.

It is of utmost importance to establish conferences and programs that contribute to the dissemination of the Arabic language's culture and importance among Muslims. In the Arabic Language Department, we strive to participate in education and raise awareness of the importance of the Arabic language on a global level through educational platforms and various programs. We ask Allah for assistance, success, and guidance.
