Department head’s speech
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to God, Lord of the Worlds, and may blessings and peace be upon the most honorable of messengers, our master Muhammad, and upon all his family and companions.
The Department of Islamic Economics was established to meet the need for specialists in Islamic economics and Islamic banking who combine knowledge in economics and Islamic Sharia sciences, as this science began to grow, spread and develop, and interest in it has increased at the global level in the recent period.
It is considered one of the economic specializations that attracts many students, as it is a specialization linked to achieving economic growth and development in countries, and achieving economic efficiency from an Islamic point of view.
The department also aspires to graduate specialists to provide economic solutions at the world level with an Islamic vision, and to compete with international institutions and the economies of the countries of the world, based on the global message of Islam: “And We have not sent you except as a mercy to the worlds.” This is what is understood from the recommendation issued by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to establish departments of Islamic economics in universities. Simultaneously with the recommendation to establish the Islamic Development Bank.
