About the Department
The English Language and Literature major aims to prepare graduates in the English language and literature major with a distinguished level and with high professional competence who are professionally and culturally qualified and able to employ literature in the service of humanitarian issues and teach various literary genres such as a story, a novel, a poem and a play, in addition to the ability On literary criticism and promotion of various literary works, in addition to possessing research capabilities, specifically literary research methods, and investing those capabilities in enhancing understanding of literature in different eras and comparative literature, and employing these capabilities through interaction and partnership with various educational institutions of common interest at the local, regional and international levels.

The Department of English Language and Literature seeks to provide integrated education and training in the English language, literatures of the English-speaking world, and applied and theoretical linguistics.
