An overview of the Department

The Department of History and Islamic Civilization is one of the most important scientific departments that follow, as is customary, the faculties of Arts and Humanities in major universities worldwide, especially since history is one of the most important sciences that concern man. And his life, and his civilized roles throughout history, just as the human being himself is the maker of the historical event. It is well known that the science of “history” is classified as “the father of sciences.” All other sciences need it, as history is linked to other sciences, whether natural or human. We have the history of architecture, the history of engineering, the history of philosophy, the history of medicine, the history of chemistry, economic history, and social history.

The vision of the Department of History and Islamic Civilization is based on interest in Islamic history, definition of civilization that Muslims have made throughout their long history, and shedding light on the contributions of Muslims in science, thought, and various fields of human civilization.

The mission of this blessed department aims to prepare distinguished cadres of researchers and specialists with scientific ability and competence in the field of history and Islamic civilization, in a way that contributes to meeting the needs of the labor market in such a specialization, and in a way that keeps pace with the developments of the era in which we live, and in a way that serves the Islamic issues related to the history and civilization.

This program aims to form and prepare qualified cadres in the field of history and Islamic civilization

Emphasizing the importance of studying Islamic history and civilization as the memory of the nation, in a way that emphasizes the preservation of the Arab-Islamic identity

Highlight the impact of the Islamic religion and its teachings on the lives of the Arabs, and its role in the great transformation that occurred to them, as they transformed from warring tribes into civilized peoples that contributed positively to the development of human life

The student should get acquainted with the most important Arab and Muslim scholars, and the role of these distinguished scholars in creating new sciences, as well as their contribution to the development of other sciences, so that they become a role model for every Muslim student who is proud of his ancestors and their history

Preparing students so that they can respond to the suspicions and fabrications that a number of non-objective researchers throw about Muslim history

Adopting all means of modernization and technology in teaching history and Islamic civilization, in accordance with the mechanisms of the modern era in education
