Celebration for World Arabic Language Day

Under the patronage of His Excellency the Vice President of the Islamic University of Minnesota, Professor Omar Al-Maqrami, and in the presence of several esteemed guests from Spain and Jordan, as well as faculty members and students, the Arabic Language and Literature Department held a celebration for World Arabic Language Day 2024.

The event began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, followed by student Tanweer Hussein. The master of ceremonies, Professor Imad Al-Khatib, spoke about the importance of the Arabic language as a symbol of national unity and history.

A video introducing the Islamic University of Minnesota was then shown, followed by a presentation of the university’s achievements under the leadership of the Vice President, who emphasized the significance of knowledge and leadership in education.

Guests took turns speaking, starting with Professor Ignacio Gutierrez from the Autonomous University of Madrid, followed by Professor Said Kayglani and Professor Victoria Aguilar, concluding with Professor Hussein Ubaydat from Yarmouk University.

The master of ceremonies expressed appreciation for the guests, praising their love for the Arabic language and their commitment to enhancing its status. The guests were honored with certificates of appreciation presented by Dr. Osama Abdulrahman, Head of the Arabic Language Department.

Dr. Zainab Ali Basyuni also spoke, followed by Dr. Ismail Hamid Ismail, who addressed the importance of the Arabic language in today's world. Dr. Mohammed Tawfiq discussed the necessity of pride in Arab origins and history.

The audience then viewed another introductory video about the Arabic Language Department before Dr. Osama Abdulrahman discussed the features of the Arabic language. The event concluded with remarks from Dr. Ali El-Shboul, who praised the efforts of all participants.

The celebration also included a student competition, with Dr. Sahar Al-Samadi providing an overview of it, and the winners of the literary contests were honored.

The event wrapped up with a farewell speech from the master of ceremonies, who thanked all participants and supporters, wishing everyone continued success and prosperity.
