Islamic University of Minnesota Opens Computer Science Department
On Monday, May 13, 2024, the Islamic University of Minnesota announced the opening of a new Computer Science department in the College of Computing and Information Technology, as the university opens registration for the new academic year 1446H/2024-2025.
The launch of this department represents a qualitative addition to the fields of education, research, and innovation in information technology, with the aim of graduating the best competencies in the field of computer science and providing them with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in the global job market.
The university's media center distributed an electronic brochure containing details of the new department, including an overview, its vision and mission, program objectives, and admission requirements, as well as the general duties and specifications of graduates and the academic nature of the specialization and the graduate's career paths.
The brochure explained that Computer Science graduates will be able to work in a wide range of fields, such as software development, information security, data analysis, networks and communications, and technological research and development.
The University has announced the admission requirements for its new program. The applicant must be a holder of a high school certificate in the scientific field or its equivalent, and the period since their high school graduation must not exceed five years, with the possibility of an exception if there are convincing reasons.
The applicant must also successfully pass any exam or personal interview deemed necessary by the College Council. They must not have been previously dismissed from the Islamic University of Minnesota or any other university for disciplinary or academic reasons.
The university stated that the applicant must fulfill any other conditions set by the College Council, and pay 20% of the total tuition fees for the bachelor's degree program upon application. The university emphasized the importance of providing accurate information during the application process, as providing false information will result in the cancellation of the admission.
