College of Educational Sciences Approves Launch of Scientific Peer-Reviewed Journal
The College of Educational Sciences at the Islamic University of Minnesota has approved a project to launch a scientific peer-reviewed journal starting January 2025. This decision was made during a regular meeting chaired by Professor Abdullah Abdulnabi, Dean of the College, on Wednesday, November 6, 2025.
During the meeting, the proposed journal was discussed and received the approval of the majority of council members after being put to a vote. The council also addressed several agenda items, including a proposal for self-evaluation within each department, aimed at ensuring continuous monitoring with the involvement of students according to specific guidelines, to highlight the strengths and weaknesses of faculty members.
Additionally, the topic of the college's scientific conference was raised, with Dr. Tahani Bannat, Deputy Head of the Educational Administration Department, emphasizing the importance of holding the conference. A previous decision had been made to host it in Jordan, but Dean Abdulnabi decided to postpone the event due to the current circumstances in Palestine.
Dr. Dua Qatnani, recently appointed as the head of the Educational Sciences Department, expressed her gratitude to the dean for his support and acknowledged the efforts of Dr. Marwan Bataineh, former Dean of Faculty Affairs. She also requested the university administration to issue "facilitation" letters for students to complete their practical education requirements in their home countries, to which the dean confirmed that he had already prepared such letters.
In a related matter, Dr. Nabila Masoud, Head of the Early Childhood Department, called for cooperation agreements with schools and universities, revealing that she had successfully established an agreement on behalf of the university, which will be announced soon.
Dr. Khitam Tawaleba, recently appointed as Deputy Head of the Early Childhood Department, expressed her admiration for the proposals made by her colleagues. Meanwhile, Dr. Mohammed Husni, Head of the Curriculum and Instruction Department, raised the issue of securing financial entitlements for faculty members, and the dean promised to follow up on this matter with the university administration.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Dr. Marwan Bataineh thanked everyone and congratulated Dr. Dua'a Qatnani on her appointment as head of the Educational Sciences Department, pledging to support her and urging colleagues to assist her. Dean Abdul Nabi also highlighted the necessity of rotating administrative staff to provide opportunities for other colleagues and requested Dr. Nourhan Salama, head of administrative affairs, to find a deputy for Dr. Dua'a.
