Dean of Economics College Holds Preparatory Meeting for Summer Semester

Doctor Sherin Mamoun, Associate Professor and Dean of the College of Economics and Business at the Islamic University of Minnesota, held the first preparatory meeting for the summer semester of the academic year 1446 AH / 2024-2025 on Monday, April 14, 2025, via Zoom, with the attendance of department heads, their deputies, and several faculty members.

Dr. Mamoun opened the meeting with a welcoming speech, expressing her gratitude and appreciation to everyone for their attendance and engagement, and praising their continuous efforts in enhancing academic performance.

After welcoming the new department heads, Dr. Khalid Basreeda, Head of the Marketing Department, and Dr. Marwan Mufaq, Head of the Human Resources Management Department, several topics were discussed, notably the progress of the educational process during the summer semester. The dean also explained the nature of the college council’s formation, the role of department vice heads, and urged everyone to promptly upload assignments through the new electronic portal. She reviewed the responsibilities of faculty members, introduced the college's journal and the promotion committee, clarified the grading system for the summer semester, and highlighted important academic instructions to ensure the quality of the educational process.

The floor was opened for department heads and their deputies to express their thoughts, where they expressed their gratitude to the dean for this opportunity and confirmed the efficient progress of the educational process during the summer semester. Faculty members were also invited to present their suggestions and inquiries, which received clear responses from the dean.

Dr. Mamoun concluded the meeting by thanking everyone for their active participation, emphasizing the importance of cooperation in ensuring the success of the summer semester and achieving academic objectives.

Later, on Friday, April 18, 2025, at 9:00 PM Mecca time, Dr. Mamoun held another meeting dedicated to the college students, which lasted until 10:30 PM, focusing on the progress of the educational process in the summer semester of the academic year 1446 AH / 2024-2025.

The dean began the meeting with a welcoming address to all attending students, expressing her happiness to meet them and her willingness to answer all their inquiries. She then moved on to discuss the meeting agenda, which included the progress of the educational process during the summer semester, along with other topics such as introducing the college council, the roles of department vice heads and secretaries, explaining the attendance mechanism for lectures, and clarifying the grading system for the summer semester, as well as important academic instructions for students.

The dean opened the floor for students to ask questions, listening attentively and responding directly, which left a positive impression on the attendees, who expressed their gratitude for this fruitful and constructive meeting.
