Extraordinary Meeting of Scientific Promotions Committee

Minnesota, May 6, 2024  An extraordinary meeting of the Scientific Promotions Committee at the Islamic University of Minnesota was held under the auspices of the Vice Chancellor and Head of the Main Center, Dr. Omar Al-Maqrami, on May 6, 2024. The meeting was attended by Prof. Dr. Muzahem bin Tareq Al-Mustafa, Chairman of the Scientific Promotions Committee, Dr. Fayza Khattab, Vice Chairman of the Committee, Dr. Saniya Salama Al-Sheikh, Secretary and Administrative Affairs Officer, and Mr. Abdullah Noaman, Head of the Translation Department, in addition to preparing the letters of the arbitrators and decisions of the Promotion Committee.

Dr. Saniya Al-Sheikh, secretary and administrative officer at the promotion committee, said the meeting welcomed the new committee members and distributed tasks after a fruitful discussion. She added that the committee discussed the proposals put forward regarding the appropriate criteria for applicants for promotion, and it was proposed to change some of the criteria in the previous list of promotions.

These amendments aim to improve and update the promotion criteria and ensure their conformity with modern requirements in the fields of scientific research and education, as well as to ensure that the promotion process is carried out in a fair and transparent manner, in accordance with the standards specified and recognized by the university.    

This meeting is an important step towards developing the scientific promotion system at the Islamic University of Minnesota and strengthening its position as an advanced educational institution that places quality and innovation in its academic priorities.
