Promotion Committee Issues Promotion Guidelines and Scientific Council Guide

MINNESOTA, July 6, 2024: The Promotion Committee at the Islamic University of Minnesota - main center has released a new guide titled "Promotion Guidelines for the Islamic University of Minnesota." The guide outlines the procedures and requirements for academic promotion at the university, including promotion requirements, how the Scientific Council verifies the fulfillment of requirements, the minimum required scientific production, and promotion criteria.

In addition, the Standing Committee for Practical Promotions and Scientific Council Affairs has issued another guide titled "Scientific Council Guide - First Edition." This guide aims to introduce readers to the Scientific Council, its mission, and its work, including making recommendations on decisions related to the appointment and promotion of academic staff, as well as scientific publication and attendance at scientific courses and conferences.

The guide also covers the committees that fall under the Scientific Council, the responsibilities of the Scientific Council Secretariat, the vision and mission of the council, the tasks of the Scientific Council, membership in the council, its duration, meetings, decisions, and its committees.

The guide provides detailed information about the Standing Committee for Appointments, including its definitions of the committee's tasks, faculty members, and what pertains to them in terms of appointment and promotion, the conditions for appointing the dean, the conditions for appointing a lecturer and language teacher, and the conditions for appointing doctors of the rank of assistant professor, associate professor, and professor, as well as the requirements and procedures for appointment.

The guide also explains the tasks of the Standing Committee for Promotions, the promotion criteria for doctors from different academic ranks, the conditions and requirements for academic promotion, and the number and conditions of the reviewers. It also includes information about the applicant for promotion, including internal and external recommendations, promotion procedures, the promotion work schedule, the procedures of the Standing Committee for Promotions, its responsibilities, and the procedures of the Scientific Council.

The guide provides model documents required for the applicant for promotion, in addition to information about the scientific production submitted for promotion, including its forms, types, and conditions. It also provides sample forms for research summaries.

The guide also includes information about scientific production that is not counted towards promotion, the applicant's employment history, administrative contributions, and awards, participation in seminars and scientific conferences, and sample details of the teaching load for an applicant for promotion.

The guide includes forms and models from page 36 to page 65, while pages 66 to the end include information about the forms and types of scientific production, its conditions, publication acceptance criteria, acceptance criteria for refereed journals, acceptance criteria for research, and the necessary forms for this.
