Khalid Attia Appointed Head of Political Science Department
The Vice President of Islamic University of Minnesota has appointed Dr. Khalid Mohammed Ahmed Attia as the new Head of the Political Science Department in the College of Arts and Humanities, succeeding Dr. Faiza Khattab. The university, represented by the Dean of the College of Arts, recognized Dr. Khattab for her "outstanding contributions and tremendous efforts" during her tenure, which significantly contributed to establishing the department and the success of its educational processes.
Dr. Attia holds a Bachelor's degree in Islamic Studies from Dar Al-Hekma in Mecca, a Higher Diploma in Islamic Culture and Da'wah from the University of the Holy Quran and Islamic Sciences in Khartoum, and a Master's degree in Quranic Exegesis and Sciences from the College of Da'wah and Fundamentals of Religion at Umm Al-Qura University in Mecca. Additionally, he earned a Master's degree in International Law and Diplomatic Relations from the International Institute for Leadership in Cairo, accredited by the Arab Institute for Studies and the Afro-Asian Union for International Law and Dispute Resolution. He also holds a Ph.D. in Islamic Political Theory from the Islamic Studies University in Cairo and a Ph.D. in Political Science from Minnesota Islamic University.
Dr. Attia has an extensive record of public service and experience, including being a faculty member at the College of Dawah and Fundamentals of Religion at Umm Al-Qura University (as a collaborator), Head of Internal Audit, and a board member of the Al-Ihsan and Takaful Association in Mecca. He is also a member of the General Assembly of the Juwar Mecca Association and is recognized as a researcher, writer, and author, as well as the owner and director of the online platform Maalem (Maalem11.com). Within Minnesota Islamic University, he serves as an Associate Professor in the Political Science Department and has held various leadership roles including Head of the Political Science Department in both the Arabic and main branches, and Head of the Political Studies Unit at the Academic Studies Center.
Dr. Attia's professional development includes three Masters degrees, numerous diplomas, and a variety of administrative and developmental training courses from prestigious institutions in the Arab world, Turkey, Europe, and the United States. His qualifications include diplomas in Islamic movements in the Middle East, regional policies, intelligence studies, Zionist studies, international diplomatic and political relations, and diplomatic skills.
He is also a prolific author with fifty published works, including titles such as "Caliphate Through History," "Intellectual Classes," "Divine Tasks of the State and International Relations: A Foundational Study of Islamic Political Theory in the Quran," "The Crisis of Thought: Man Between His Dark and Bright Sides," "Principles of Political Science (Legitimate and Constitutional Authority)," and "Political Concepts (in press)."
