The competition has three criteria: accurate memorization, application of Tajweed rules and stopping/starting, and fluency and good performance.

The announcement also detailed the testing dates, which will occur in three phases: the first phase will start in Jumada Al-Thani, on Saturday, the 20th, Monday, the 22nd, and Wednesday, the 24th of Jumada Al-Thani. This will be followed by the second phase in Rajab, on Saturday, the 4th, Monday, the 6th, and Wednesday, the 8th of Rajab. The final phase will take place on Saturday, the 18th, Monday, the 20th, and Wednesday, the 22nd of Rajab 1446 AH. The tests will last for two hours each day, starting from 9 PM to 11 PM Mecca time.
