Researcher Mohammed Ismail Awarded PhD

Minnesota, January 7, 2025 – Researcher Mohammed Ismail Hussein has been awarded a PhD in Jurisprudence and Its Principles from the Islamic University of Minnesota following a public defense of his dissertation titled, "Al-Munah Al-Shafiyat: An Explanation of the Individual Opinions of Imam Ahmad by Imam Mansour bin Yunus bin Salah Al-Din Al-Bahuti (1000-1051 AH) – A Compilation and Study."

The defense session took place on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at 9:00 PM Mecca time, under the supervision of the Deanship of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research at the Islamic University of Minnesota – Main Center. The examination committee was chaired by Dr. Salah Faraj, Head of the Jurisprudence and Its Principles Department at the university. Associate Professor Dr. Fatima Jumaa Al-Wahsh, a faculty member at the university, served as Supervisor and Rapporteur. The committee also included Dr. Ayman Massad Mustafa, a faculty member at the university, as Internal Examiner, and Professor Dr. Mashhour Fawaz, Professor of Jurisprudence and Its Principles and Head of the Islamic Fatwa Council in the Palestinian Territories, as External Examiner.

The dissertation focused on the study and compilation of Al-Munah Al-Shafiyat, a significant work by Imam Mansour Al-Bahuti that explains the individual juristic opinions of Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal. The committee praised the research for its scholarly rigor and contribution to the field of Islamic jurisprudence.
