Scientific Committee Recommends Awarding Al-Otaibi Master Degree

A scientific committee from the Department of Quran and its Sciences at the College of Islamic Studies at the Islamic University of Minnesota has recommended awarding researcher Saad Majed Al-Otaibi a Master’s degree. This came following a public session held by the committee on Friday, January 10, 2025, at 9:00 PM Mecca time, during which they discussed his thesis titled "Ibn Ashour’s Critiques of Scholars in His Tafsir Regarding Excepted Verses from Meccan and Medinan Surahs: Compilation and Study."
The discussion was conducted under the supervision of the Deanship of Graduate Studies at the Islamic University of Minnesota, Main Center. The examination committee consisted of Prof. Dr. Abdulrazeq Al-Bakri, Dean of the College of Islamic Studies at the Islamic University of Minnesota, as supervisor and chair; Dr. Emad Qadri Al-Ayadi, faculty member at the Islamic University of Minnesota, as internal examiner; and Dr. Amina Hamed Musa, Professor of Tafsir and Quranic Sciences at King Khalid University in Saudi Arabia, as external examiner.
The committee praised the researcher’s efforts in his thesis, which focused on Imam Ibn Ashour’s critiques of scholars in his interpretation of the excepted verses from Meccan and Medinan surahs, compiling and analyzing these critiques in detail.
