Appointment of Bani Younis as Dean of College of Developmental Studies

Doctor Omar Al-Maqrami, Vice President of the Islamic University of Minnesota and Head of the Main Center, issued a decision appointing Dr. Youssef Mohammed Bani Younis as Dean of the College of Developmental Studies, effective Saturday, January 11, 2025.

Dr. Bani Younis holds distinguished academic qualifications, including a doctorate equivalency in Philosophy of History from the Jordanian Ministry of Higher Education in 2012, and a Ph.D. in History from Al-Zaiem Al-Azhari University in Sudan, graduating with excellence in 2011. His dissertation focused on "Jordan's Philosophy in Containing and Resolving the Iraqi Refugee Crisis (2003–2007)." He also holds a Master’s degree in Modern and Contemporary History from St. Clements University (a British distance-learning institution recognized by the EU and UNESCO) in 2005, and another Master’s degree in the same field from Yarmouk University in Jordan in 2008, graduating with a "Very Good" grade. His thesis explored "The Philosophy of the Jordanian Public Security Directorate in Maintaining International Peace (1919–1999)." Additionally, he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy of History from Yarmouk University with a "Good" grade.

Bani Younis has taught at several prestigious academic institutions, including the Royal Police Academy and Mutah University in Jordan, where he lectured at the Master’s level from 2010 to 2014. He taught subjects such as the Philosophy of Human Rights, Scientific Research Methodology, and the Philosophy of National Education. He also taught at the Arab-German University for Sciences and Technology online during 2013–2014, covering topics such as the Philosophy of Aesthetics, Political Philosophy, Philosophy of Religion, Philosophy of Law, and more.

Dr. Bani Younis has an extensive academic portfolio, including the authorship of the "Historical Encyclopedia of the Russian-Ukrainian War," a 17-volume work registered at the Jordanian National Library in 2024. He also published a book titled "Jordan's Philosophy in Containing and Resolving the Iraqi Refugee Crisis (2003–2007)," released by Noor Publishing in Germany and available for purchase on the website (www.get-morebooks.com). Additionally, he authored a Master’s thesis on the philosophy of the Jordanian Public Security Directorate’s role.

Youssef Bani Younis expressed his joy and gratitude for his appointment as Dean of the College of Developmental Studies. In a comment on the decision, shared in the university’s main WhatsApp groups, he thanked the university’s President, Professor Walid Al-Meneesi, and Vice President Dr. Omar Al-Maqrami for their "high trust." He also extended his gratitude to the Vice President’s Deputy, Dr. Zeinab Basiouni, the Dean of Faculty Affairs, Dr. Norhan Salama, the college deans, and all faculty members. Dr. Bani Younis pledged to work diligently to serve the university and the college, stating, "I will live up to everyone’s expectations and strive to elevate the college to join the ranks of other leading institutions, making it a scientific beacon for students from around the world."
