Islamic University of Minnesota Honors Outstanding Faculty Members

Under the patronage of the University Vice President and Head of the Main Center, Dr. Omar Al-Maqrami, and his deputy, Dr. Zainab Ali Basyouni, and in collaboration between the Deanship of Academic Affairs and its Educational Affairs Unit and the Deanship of Faculty Affairs and its Administrative Affairs Unit, the Islamic University of Minnesota held a ceremony to honor outstanding faculty members on Thursday, February 27, 2025, coinciding with the end of the second academic semester.
Opening of the Ceremony
The ceremony began with a welcoming speech by Dr. Abdu Nasr Abdulwahab, who greeted the attendees, including deans, faculty members, and students. This was followed by a poetic and prose tribute, after which Tawfiq Hassan, a PhD student, recited verses from the Holy Quran.
University Vice President Speech
The University Vice President and Head of the Main Center, Dr. Omar Al-Maqrami delivered a speech praising the efforts of the faculty, emphasizing that the ceremony was an expression of gratitude for their dedication to the educational process. He noted that the number of lectures in the second semester exceeded 4,400, highlighting the pivotal role of faculty members in the university's success.

Doctor Osama Abdulrahman, Dean of Academic Affairs, explained that the criteria for recognition included adherence to lecture schedules, the use of diverse teaching methods, and active engagement with students. He mentioned that the recognition would continue in future semesters with additional criteria to ensure quality and excellence.
Dean of Faculty Affairs Speech
Doctor Norhan Salama emphasized that the role of faculty members extends beyond imparting knowledge to shaping students' character and instilling ethical values. She thanked the university administration and staff for their support in enhancing the educational process.
Other Speeches
The ceremony also featured speeches from the Graduate Studies Deanship, represented by Dr. Yasmin Abu Shabana, and the College Deans, represented by Professor Abdullah Abdulnabi, who commended the university's efforts in providing distinguished education that combines in-person and remote learning. Dr. Mohammed Saeed Athamneh, speaking on behalf of the faculty, extended "three roses" of gratitude to the university, his fellow faculty members, and the students.
Conclusion of the Ceremony
The event concluded with a poetic recitation by Syrian poet Mohammed Ahmed Al-Juwaer, followed by a heartfelt video tribute produced by the university's Media Center, expressing gratitude to the faculty for their exceptional efforts.
