Muhanna Ahmed Saeed Awarded PhD Degree

The Deanship of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research at the Islamic University of Minnesota – Main Center has awarded the PhD degree to researcher Muhanna Ahmed Saeed Ali, following the defense of his dissertation titled: "Intrusion Detection in IoT Networks Using Machine Learning and Deep Learning Techniques to Mitigate MitM Attacks."

The defense session was held on Monday, November 3, 2025, via Zoom, with the participation of a specialized committee from the Department of Networks and Cybersecurity at the College of Computing and Information Technology. The dissertation addressed a contemporary and vital topic focused on enhancing the security of Internet of Things (IoT) networks through advanced mechanisms that employ machine learning and deep learning techniques to detect intrusion attempts and counter Man-in-the-Middle (MitM) attacks.

The defense committee was chaired by Dr. Salah Alawi, Head of the Department of Networks and Cybersecurity (Supervisor and Rapporteur), and included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Muneer Abdulbari, Dean of the College of Computing and Information Technology (Internal Examiner), and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yasser Al-Malek, faculty member at the university (External Examiner).

At the conclusion of the session, the committee recommended awarding the researcher the PhD degree.
