Deanship of Graduate Studies Holds Master Thesis Defense on Developing English Language Skills

In a distinguished academic setting, the Deanship of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research at the Islamic University of Minnesota – Main Center, hosted on Monday, December 1, 2025, the defense of a master’s thesis presented by Egyptian researcher Iman Sabri Saeed Ibrahim. The session was held online via Zoom, with the attendance of a select group of academics and specialists.

The thesis, titled: "A Suggested Program for Developing Speaking Skill through Utilizing Evaluation Strategies in Teaching Listening Skill for EFL Learners,” addressed an important educational topic that integrates the development of speaking skills among learners of English as a foreign language with the use of assessment strategies in teaching listening skills, aiming to enhance linguistic performance based on modern pedagogical approaches.

The examination committee was chaired by Professor Dr. Talaat Mohammed Al-Dardeer, Head of the Department of Curriculum and Instruction at the university. Committee members included Professor Dr. Ayman Fathi Al-Koumi as thesis supervisor, Professor Dr. Mahrous Suleiman as internal examiner, and Professor Dr. Rami Abu S’ailik, English language lecturer at the University of Jordan, as external examiner.

The defense session featured a comprehensive presentation of the thesis’ major themes, objectives, and findings, followed by an in-depth scholarly discussion. Committee members enriched the work with constructive academic feedback and methodological guidance, reflecting the significant research effort invested by the candidate.

At the conclusion of the session, the committee approved awarding the researcher the Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction, praising the quality, relevance, and applied value of her study in the field of English language teaching.
