Doctoral Dissertation Aimed at Preparing Islamic Education Teachers
The Deanship of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research at the Islamic University of Minnesota (Main Center) hosted a public online discussion on the evening of Monday, January 19, 2026, for a doctoral dissertation presented by researcher Saleh Abbas Kanah in the Educational Administration program at the College of Educational Sciences. The dissertation was titled "Proposing a Training Program Based on Islamic Education Subject Teaching Competencies to Prepare High School Students as New Teachers in Islamic Schools in Light of Their Training Needs from the Perspective of Teachers in the Republic of Liberia."
The study focused on diagnosing the current state of preparing Islamic education teachers in Liberia. It provided a comprehensive proposal for a training program designed to bridge the gap between the actual training needs of new teachers and the required skills, thereby enhancing their professional and educational competencies.
The discussion committee was chaired by Dr. Hiba Tawfiq Abu Ayyadah, Head of the Educational Administration Department at the Islamic University of Minnesota, who served as the supervisor and committee rapporteur. The committee also included Dr. Abdulsalam Al-Hatalmeh, a faculty member at the university, as an internal examiner, and Dr. Lamia Al-Khalayleh, also a faculty member, as an external examiner.
The session included a presentation by the researcher on the findings and recommendations of his study. This was followed by a rich scientific discussion from the committee members, who provided constructive feedback aimed at enhancing the academic and practical value of the dissertation.
At the conclusion of the discussion, the committee commended the significant research effort, emphasizing the importance of the dissertation in addressing the issue of teacher preparation development in emerging Islamic educational contexts. This aligns with the vision of the Islamic University of Minnesota to support rigorous scientific research that serves educational issues and contributes to the development of Islamic communities worldwide.
