Family Counseling Department Holds Regular Meeting

The Family Counseling Department at the Faculty of Educational Sciences at the Islamic University of Minnesota held its regular meeting on the evening of Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at 9:30 p.m. (Makkah time), chaired by the Head of the Department, Dr. Laith Ibrahim Al-Zawahreh, and attended by faculty members.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Rania Al-Hashlamoun, Dr. Bilal Al-Duwairi, Dr. Maria Hussein, Dr. Walaa Al-Sayeh, Dr. Mona Zidan, Dr. Hiyam Morsi, Dr. Ahmed Al-Zawahreh, Dr. Farhan Lafi, Dr. Mohammed Dhaifallah Al-Qarni, Dr. Fouad Al-Shehri, and Dr. Norhan Salama.

The session opened with welcoming remarks reflecting an atmosphere of mutual appreciation and collegiality. Faculty members were thanked for their continued efforts in supporting the academic process. Dr. Laith Al-Zawahreh was also congratulated on his appointment as Head of the Department, while Dr. Norhan Salama’s ongoing cooperation and contributions were commended.

The meeting addressed several academic and administrative matters, most notably the mechanism for preparing examinations. A proposal was discussed to unify the exam version in courses with a limited number of students, aiming to reduce the academic and administrative workload on faculty members. The department also reviewed training programs and proposed offering symbolic financial support to students enrolled in accredited training courses, with a portion allocated to the supervising faculty member to ensure mutual benefit.

Participants further discussed the possibility of adjusting the duration of certain examinations to better align with course requirements. Student absences were also addressed, with emphasis placed on involving faculty members in related decision-making processes. The importance of monitoring academic engagement, ensuring timely submission of assignments, and adhering to scheduled make-up lectures was reaffirmed.

Additionally, a proposal was introduced to provide symbolic financial incentives to faculty members within the department, in accordance with university policies, as a means of motivation and recognition of their efforts.

The meeting concluded with expressions of appreciation for the collective efforts of faculty members, along with special thanks extended to the former Head of the Department, Dr. Mohammed Shtayyat, in recognition of his contributions and the shared commitment to advancing the department’s academic performance.
