Council of College of Islamic Studies Holds Extraordinary Meeting
The Council of the College of Islamic Studies at the Islamic University of Minnesota held an extraordinary meeting chaired by Prof. Dr. Abdulrazzaq Al-Bakri, Dean of the College, with the presence of Dr. Zainab Basyouni, Deputy University Registrar and Director of the Curriculum and Planning Unit. The meeting took place on Friday, October 4, 2024, at 10:00 PM Mecca time.
The Dean opened the meeting by welcoming the attendees and emphasized the importance of discussing the curricula and courses specific to the college, as well as the study plans and descriptions. He granted the department heads the opportunity to express their inquiries, opinions, and suggestions regarding the curricula.
Dr. Zainab Basyouni responded to the inquiries of the department heads, noting that while the proposed textbook for the course may be changed, the curriculum itself will remain unchanged. She clarified that the approved textbook is submitted to the university’s drive after the completion of the course descriptions.
The Dean also pointed out that any proposal for changing a textbook must be submitted through an official letter from the concerned faculty member, addressed to him personally and then to Dr. Zainab.
In this context, Dr. Zainab affirmed that students are required to adhere to the approved course content and noted that each branch of the Islamic University of Minnesota operates independently concerning its curricula.
Also present at the meeting were the department heads and the Administrative Affairs Officer, Ms. Anisa Ahmed Othman Al-Zakari, reflecting the college's commitment to enhancing and developing its academic plans.
