Maryam Assaf Earns Ph.D. in Islamic Sociology

Researcher Maryam Samir Assaf from the College of Islamic Studies has earned a Ph.D. in Islamic Sociology after a public defense of her thesis titled "The Impact of Islamic Belief on the Formation of Cultural Identity among Muslims in the United Kingdom."
The defense session was held on Monday, the 17th of Safar 1447 AH, corresponding to August 11, 2025, at 8 PM Mecca time, under the supervision of the Graduate Studies and Research Deanship at the main campus of the Islamic University of Minnesota.
The discussion committee consisted of Professor Waleed bin Idris Al-Manisi, President of the Islamic University of Minnesota, who chaired the session, Dr. Fayed Mohammed Said, a professor of Islamic Studies at the university, as an internal discussant, along with Dr. Mohammed Al-Saidi, Dean of Birmingham College of Humanities, as an external discussant.
