The Language and Translation Center at the Islamic University of Minnesota - Main Center organized a specialized introductory lecture on teaching English according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) on Sunday, March 1, 2026, via Zoom, with strong participation from students and language enthusiasts.
The lecture was held under the supervision of Dr. Ali El-Shboul, Director of the Language Center, as part of the center’s vision to enable learners to build a professional language pathway aligned with international academic standards for measuring language proficiency.
The session was presented by Dr. Nesreen Mohammed Al-Jaafrah, Assistant Director of the Language Center at the College of Arts, who systematically outlined the six CEFR levels from A1 to C2, explaining the academic differences and standards for each level, as well as the assessment methods for the four language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
The lecture also addressed the requirements for progression between levels according to European standards, highlighting strategies for building a structured learning plan that guides learners toward academic and professional fluency, helps them determine their actual proficiency level, and empowers them to advance confidently to higher levels.
The lecture targeted university students, staff, researchers, and anyone interested in developing their language skills according to internationally recognized standards, reflecting the Language and Translation Center’s commitment to offering high-quality programs that enhance educational outcomes and support the academic and professional competitiveness of the university community.
