Scientific Seminar to Discuss PhD Research Proposal on Saudi Tax System
The College of Sharia and Law - Law Department at the Islamic University of Minnesota, under the auspices of the Deanship of Graduate Studies, held a scientific seminar via video conferencing on the evening of Monday, January 5, 2026. The seminar was convened to discuss the research proposal of PhD student Fatima Abdulateef Shu'aib, titled "The Income Tax System in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia."
During the session, the researcher presented a detailed overview of her research project. She outlined the general framework and significance of the study in light of contemporary economic and legislative developments, clarified the research objectives and the intended scientific methodology, and highlighted the main axes on which she will focus in analyzing the Saudi tax system and its legal framework.
The scientific discussion committee was chaired by Associate Professor Dr. Mohammed Shu'aib Abdulmaqsood, Head of the Law Department. The committee also included Dr. Mohammed Abdulhafeez Gad and Associate Professor Dr. Nancy Al-Faqi. Committee members provided a range of valuable observations and constructive methodological guidance aimed at deepening the research dimensions, ensuring its academic rigor, and enriching it with references and analyses that enhance its scientific and practical value.
This session falls within the strategy of the Deanship of Graduate Studies and the College to promote a culture of serious scientific research and provide a supportive environment for graduate students to refine their research projects under the supervision of a select group of specialized professors. This aims to contribute to the production of solid legal knowledge that addresses contemporary issues and legislative developments in the region.
