Dean of Student Affairs Honors Outstanding Students

Minnesota, February 7, 2025 - The Dean of Student Affairs at the Islamic University of Minnesota held a ceremony to honor outstanding students, coinciding with the conclusion of the second academic semester. The event, which took place on Friday, was sponsored by the university’s vice president, Dr. Omar Al-Maqrami, and his deputy, Dr. Zainab Basyouni, and was attended by several deans, department heads, faculty members, and a large audience of students.
A total of 181 students were honored, including 117 undergraduates and 64 graduate students. Mr. Sulaiman Maqbool, Director of the Undergraduate Student Affairs Unit, stated that this recognition is a tribute to the exemplary students for their academic excellence and good behavior.
In his speech, Mr. Maqbool expressed pride in the outstanding students, praising their efforts in fostering a positive learning environment. Ms. Omaima Adel, Director of the Graduate Student Affairs Unit, also addressed the audience, emphasizing that success is the result of hard work, and that honoring students is a special moment in their academic journey.
This was followed by the distribution of certificates to the honored students amidst an atmosphere of joy and congratulations. As the university's vice president noted in his speech, the university takes pride in its students and supports them in achieving a bright future.
Doctor Zainab Basyouni, the vice president, spoke about the importance of the efforts of outstanding students and their role as role models for their peers. Dr. Osama Abdulrahman Awaf, Dean of Academic Affairs, expressed his happiness at the students receiving the title of excellence, affirming that they represent a model to be emulated.
The ceremony concluded with the honoring of 76 female and 41 male undergraduates, 23 male and 21 female master’s students, as well as 20 exemplary doctoral candidates.
