Under the patronage of Dr. Zainab Ali Basyouni, Deputy Vice President for Student Affairs at the Islamic University of Minnesota - Main Center, the Deanship of Student Affairs held an extensive orientation and guidance meeting for new students on Thursday, March 13, 2025. The meeting aimed to prepare students for the upcoming summer semester and provide them with a clear understanding of the educational process.

The event featured representatives from the three units of the Deanship: the Guidance and Counseling Unit, the Undergraduate Student Affairs Unit, and the Graduate Student Affairs Unit. The meeting began with a brief welcoming speech by Dr. Zainab Basyouni, who greeted the new students and emphasized the importance of this session in guiding them toward a successful academic journey.

This was followed by an orientation lecture delivered by Mr. Sulaiman Maqbool, Director of Undergraduate Student Affairs, who provided a detailed explanation of everything related to students' academic life, from the registration process to receiving graduation documents. He also addressed the challenges students might face during their studies, reassuring them about their academic and administrative rights, especially in the context of distance learning.

For her part, Ms. Omaima Adel, Director of the Graduate Student Affairs Unit, delivered a speech highlighting the commonalities between undergraduate and graduate students while focusing on the procedures and regulations specific to graduate students. She expressed her readiness, along with Mr. Sulaiman, to answer any questions raised by the students.

The students actively engaged with the session, asking numerous questions and inquiries, which were answered with precision and clarity by Mr. Sulaiman and Dr. Zainab. Some questions were referred to Ms. Omaima Adel or other relevant departments.

This meeting is part of the ongoing preparations for the start of the summer semester, scheduled to begin on April 5, 2025, according to the university's academic calendar. It aims to enhance students' understanding of academic regulations and ensure a successful start to their educational journey.
