Islamic University of Minnesota Hosts Reception for First Semester Students

Minnesota, USA - The Islamic University of Minnesota held a reception for new and returning students on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, just three days before the start of the semester.
The event was opened by Dr. Abdu Nasr Abdulwahab, who welcomed the attendees and praised the university's leadership, represented by Vice President Dr. Omar Ahmed Al-Maqrami and his deputy, Dr. Zainab Basyouni. He emphasized the importance of this moment as an opportunity for excellence and creativity.
The ceremony began with a recitation of verses from the Holy Quran by Mr. Arafat bin Abdulrahman Ba'eesa, followed by a speech from the university's vice president, who warmly welcomed the students and offered valuable advice, stressing the importance of sincerity, diligence, and hard work. He highlighted the need to respect relationships within the university and to take full advantage of the educational system in place, pointing out the new electronic portal that facilitates all stages of the educational process.
Next, Dr. Zainab delivered a speech welcoming the students, affirming that their choice of the Islamic University was not coincidental but a conscious decision. She highlighted the unique educational environment provided by the university through its interactive system via Zoom.
Dr. Osama Abdulrahman, Dean of Academic Affairs, then spoke, stating that education is the weapon of progress and urging students to strive for excellence.
In the section on student affairs, Mr. Sulaiman Maqbool welcomed everyone and emphasized the importance of commitment to education, noting that students made the right choice by joining the university.
Additionally, Ms. Ra'fa Adel delivered a speech in English, encouraging students to be determined and actively participate in lectures.
The event concluded with a video presentation showcasing the university's journey, followed by testimonials from students who shared their positive experiences, with one student emphasizing the importance of discipline and commitment in university life.
