Islamic University of Minnesota Opens Center for Academic Studies

In a ceremonial celebration sponsored by the leadership of the Islamic University of Minnesota - Main Campus, the College of Arts and Humanities inaugurated the Center for Academic Studies on Monday, May 20, 2024.

The celebration featured speeches by Dr. Omar Al-Maqrami, University Provost and Head of the Main Center, and Dr. Ismail Hamed, the new Center Director, as well as participation from the Panamanian Ambassador to Jordan, José Ulises Lescure, Dr. Mohammed Al-Ma'atawi from the University of Madrid, Dr. Adel bin Othman from the University of Carthage, and José Daniels from Colombia.

Dr. Abdulkhaliq Al-Najmi from Spain apologized for not delivering his speech due to a health issue. The event concluded with a speech by Dr. Ali El-Shboul, Head of the Latin American Studies Unit at the Center.

The statement issued by the University Media Center outlined the organizational structure of the new Center, headed by Dr. Ismail Hamed as the director of the center, followed by Dr. Mohammed Tawfiq as the deputy director, then Dr. Ali El-Shboul as the head of the Latin American Studies Unit, Dr. Khaled Mohammed Atiya as the head of the Political Studies Unit, Dr. Khaled Mohamed Ali as the head of the African Studies Unit, Dr. Sulaf Faidhallah Al-Jazaeri as the head of the Historical and Archaeological Studies Unit, Nour Saad as a member of the Latin American Studies Unit, Dr. Baha'a Abdrabou as a member of the Political Studies Unit, Dr. Shaima'a Khatab as a member of the African Studies Unit, Dr. Wala'a Mohammed as a member of the Historical and Archaeological Studies Unit, Dr. Zainab Basiouni as the secretary and the financial and administrative director, and Mr. Taher Mohammed Alwan as the secretary and general coordinator.
