Welcome Ceremony for New Students and Faculty Members
Minnesota, November 13, 2024 - The Islamic University of Minnesota held a welcome ceremony for new students and faculty members to celebrate the beginning of the second semester of the academic year 2024-2025.
The ceremony was opened by the media personality Iman Abdulaziz, followed by Sheikh Izzat Sabri reciting verses from the Holy Quran. This was followed by a poem recited by Yemeni poet Mohammed Al-Mahdi, which was written specifically for this occasion. Dr. Omar Al-Maqarmi, the university's vice president and head of the main center, delivered a keynote speech in which he addressed the importance of the role of faculty members in shaping future generations.
Dr. Marwan Zaid Bataineh, Dean of Faculty Affairs, emphasized the importance of new students and the university's role in providing an exceptional educational environment that encourages critical thinking and innovation. He stressed that education should go beyond merely receiving information to applying it in practical life.
Mr. Sulaiman Maqbool, Director of Undergraduate Student Affairs, also gave a speech welcoming the new students, expressing his hope that this year would be filled with excellence and achievements.
The ceremony also included a video presentation by the Academic Affairs Deanery to introduce new students to the educational units and opportunities available to them. The event concluded with a musical performance by the singer Fouad Abdulrahman, before Iman Abdulaziz thanked the attendees and closed the activities.
