Dean of the Faculty of Arts Participates in International Conference at University of Basel


 

Upon an official invitation from the University of Basel in Switzerland, Dr. Ismail Hamed - Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at the Islamic University of Minnesota - participated in the international scientific conference organized by the Institute of African Studies affiliated with the Swiss university.

During the conference, Dr. Ismail Hamed presented a research paper titled "The Image of the Hero in the Medieval Darfur Society", as part of the many contributions by a group of leading academics and researchers in African studies from renowned European universities.

Dr. Hamed emphasized that the University of Basel - one of the oldest European universities, founded in 1460 - personally invited him to participate, based on his specialized expertise in the field of African studies and the history of Islam in sub-Saharan Africa. He also noted his keenness to represent the Islamic University of Minnesota at this prominent international scientific conference.
