Prof. Ismail Hamed participates in scientific events at Mohammed V University in Rabat, where he was hosted as the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at the Islamic University of Minnesota. His participation included an open discussion titled "Civilizational Communication between Morocco and Sub-Saharan Africa throughout History." Prof. Ismail Hamed was invited by three parties, namely the International Center for Heritage Studies, the International Center for Saharan ( Studies, and the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at Mohammed V University. He has written over sixty books, including twenty books about the desert. According to Rabat News website, Prof. Ismail Hamed delivered a lecture at Mohammed V University in Rabat, where he expressed his appreciation for the invitation from the International Center for Heritage Studies, the International Center for Sahara Studies, and the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities. The lecture focused on the importance of Morocco as a country with a rich history of knowledge, literature, and culture. He emphasized that the desert reflects a rich history in the architectural engineering of mosques in African countries. He also discussed the historical trade between the northern and southern parts of the Sahara, highlighting the salt-for-gold trade as a model for deep connections between the two sides. He presented illustrative images of this architectural influence in Timbuktu and other cities. He also touched upon the impact of trade on social and cultural relationships, as some Moroccan workers migrated and settled in African countries, leading to strengthened social ties between the two cultures.
