Political Science Department Head Outlines Priorities for New Semester

Dr. Faiza Khattab, Head of the Political Science Department at the College of Arts and Humanities at the Islamic University of Minnesota, Main Center, held a meeting with faculty members on Wednesday, July 3, 2024.

At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Khattab welcomed the attendees and praised the efforts made by the faculty members during the previous semesters, noting the need to continue on the same path and excel in the educational process.

Dr. Khattab emphasized the importance of adhering to lecture schedules, preparing well for the material, following up on student attendance, interacting with them, reducing the amount of assignments for students considering the large number of courses assigned, determining the teaching style and method that suits the students, and activating WhatsApp groups to increase their activity.

The Head of the Department also pointed out to the faculty members the need to use additional materials that help in understanding the material well and broaden the students' horizons in the course. She stressed that she understands the problem of power outages in some countries, including Egypt, emphasizing the need to coordinate lectures to avoid compensatory lectures as much as possible.

Dr. Khattab also mentioned that faculty members will be provided with the updated schedules and deadlines for the first semester, and that there will be a course description within a clear plan that helps the doctor and students in determining the topics for the course.

At the end of the meeting, the Head of the Department renewed her thanks to the attendees, wishing them success and guidance.
