Regular Meeting of Arabic Language Department

The Arabic Language Department at the College of Arts and Humanities at the Islamic University of Minnesota held its regular meeting chaired by Dr. Osama Abdulrahman, the department head, and his deputy, Dr. Ali El-Shboul, on Wednesday, October 25, 2024.

At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Osama welcomed all attendees, expressing his happiness with such gatherings that enhance social relationships within the department, in addition to their role as a fundamental administrative tool. Deputy Head Dr. Ali El-Shboul also thanked the attendees for their presence.

The meeting addressed several important topics, notably the necessity of completing the preparation of the first-semester exams for submission to the control department as soon as possible. The department head emphasized the importance of considering the diverse levels of students when formulating questions and adhering to the model sent by the control department, while also stressing the need to review the exams before submission. He pointed out that grades would be recorded by the control department, except for assignment grades, which the instructors would enter themselves.

Other topics discussed included the commitment to delivering lectures on time and the procedures to follow in case an instructor needs to cancel a lecture. In such cases, communication with the department head, deputy, and the college secretary should occur well in advance of the lecture to arrange for a substitute, with the reminder that postponement is not permitted.

Faculty members who contributed during the meeting expressed their satisfaction with the department's good reputation at the university level. At the conclusion of the meeting, the department head expressed hope for meeting everyone again after the exams, assuring that all colleagues would be honored for their efforts throughout the first semester.

Present at the meeting, in addition to the department head and his deputy, were several faculty members, including Dr. Baher, Professor Dr. Hisham Khalidi, Dr. Khaled Shalabi, Dr. Omar Shuqairat, Dr. Ahmed Abdulshafi, Dr. Sahar Samadi, Dr. Abd Rabbo Al-Rousan, Dr. Emad Ali Al-Khatib, Dr. Naser Zahri, Dr. Asma Al-Bashir, Dr. Alaa Al-Khalaf, Dr. Taher Fayez, Dr. Tamer Al-Qazzaz, Dr. Mohammed, Dr. Mohammed Saad, Dr. Issa Abu Surour, Dr. Suhair Said Al-Khalil, Mr. Said Kamel, Ms. Khadija Radman, and the administrative affairs officer of the College of Arts, Ms. Samira Al-Saghir.
