On Tuesday, February 11, 2025, Dr. Khalid Al-Qutub Al-Shahawi, Chair of the English Department at the College of Arts and Humanities at the Islamic University of Minnesota, held a faculty meeting for the department's staff.
Doctor Al-Shahawi opened the meeting with a welcoming speech, expressing his gratitude to colleagues for attending. The agenda included several important topics, such as addressing challenges students may face during exams, final grade assessments, proposals for improving the educational process, and the establishment of a diploma in translation.
The meeting concluded with several key recommendations, including:
- Allocating a portion of the final grade for student participation on the university portal.
- Addressing issues related to the final exam through the approved testing philosophy.
- Adhering to the course descriptions prepared by the department while allowing faculty the option to choose references.
- Completing the grading of assignments within one week for all courses and submitting all final exams.
- Creating a university email for faculty members to support research and academic activities.
- Approving the work on the translation diploma with a published salary.
- Finalizing the distribution of summer session schedules according to specializations.
- Sending a letter to the Dean of the college requesting to meet colleagues' needs regarding financial incentives.
The meeting adjourned at 10 PM Mecca time, where attendees exchanged expressions of praise and gratitude in an atmosphere of mutual respect and camaraderie.
