English Department Launches Initiative for University Textbook Authorship

Makkah, May 31, 2025  – In line with the Islamic University of Minnesota's commitment to enhancing the educational process and promoting scientific output, the English Department at the College of Arts and Humanities held a comprehensive meeting on Saturday, May 31, 2025, attended by a selection of faculty members. The meeting lasted from 8:00 to 9:30 AM.

This meeting was part of the department's efforts to launch the "University Textbook Authorship" initiative, engaging positively with the university's scientific and educational initiatives. The goal was to establish a unified vision for the authorship process, representing a qualitative step towards deepening knowledge and reinforcing the academic identity of the curricula.

During the meeting, several important topics were discussed, including the establishment of a reference framework for the authorship process, the distribution of roles among faculty members based on their specializations, and the adoption of unified academic standards to ensure the quality of content. There was also an emphasis on aligning the curricula with accreditation and quality requirements, as well as setting a clear timeline for the stages of completion, from planning to printing and distribution.

The meeting resulted in a series of recommendations that will serve as an organizational structure for the project. Dr. Suhad Qasar, Chair of the Curriculum Committee, will review and finalize these recommendations for official publication, establishing them as the approved reference for the project's implementation.

At the end of the meeting, the coordinators affirmed that this project represents a significant step in the department's journey, enriching university curricula and reflecting the university's identity and vision in building a knowledge-producing academic community. They expressed their sincere gratitude to the faculty members who participated in this important academic event, appreciating their commitment to attending despite their many obligations.
