Department of History Reports Increase in Master and Doctoral Thesis Registrations

Doctor Sihem Abdulbaqi, Head of the Department of History and Archaeology at the College of Arts and Humanities at the Islamic University of Minnesota, confirmed an increase in the registration of master's and doctoral theses and the organization of scientific seminars within her department.

Her remarks came during a regular meeting held by the department under her leadership on Thursday evening, June 26, 2025, corresponding to the 1st of Muharram 1447 AH, at 9:00 PM Mecca time. The meeting focused on developmental visions and several proposals aimed at increasing enrollment in the department's programs.

During the meeting, Dr. Sihem discussed highlights from the summer semester, noting the clear commitment of the faculty in submitting exams and results on time and correcting errors on the results platform. She emphasized the importance of continuing to support students in the "self-study" system and simplifying courses to fit the intensive semester format, as well as the necessity of active attendance in study groups and interaction with students' inquiries.

The head of the department addressed the mechanisms for distributing academic supervision, stressing that all decisions are made according to clear and fair criteria, ensuring equal opportunities and transparency among faculty members. Additionally, four faculty members were nominated to participate in training courses organized by the University Training and Development Center, with coordination in place to provide the center's management with the approved names.

Dr. Siham praised the efforts of the committee responsible for preparing course descriptions for the fifth semester of the bachelor's program, reaffirming the need to submit weekly reports without delay in preparation for timely delivery to the university administration.

The meeting concluded at 10:15 PM, amidst an atmosphere of optimism and discipline, in preparation for an outstanding academic launch. The head of the department thanked the faculty members for their professional competence and dedication, emphasizing that success can only be achieved through teamwork, collaboration, and commitment to serving students and academic work.
