Department of History Officially Launches "University Book" Project
MINNESOTA, USA – July 21, 2025 – The Department of History and Archaeology at the College of Arts and Humanities, Islamic University of Minnesota, has announced the launch of its strategic project to create its own official university textbook and academic courses. The announcement was made during an extended meeting held on the evening of Saturday, July 20, 2025.
The meeting, conducted via Zoom, was chaired by the Head of the Department, Dr. Siham Abdulbaqi, with active participation from faculty members. The comprehensive plan for the project was reviewed, and its implementation mechanisms and surrounding challenges were discussed.
The meeting focused on key pillars to ensure the project's success, most notably granting full authority to professors in determining the academic content of their courses and enhancing specialized coordination among them to ensure the integration of subjects across different academic stages.
An agreement was reached to commence the project immediately, with specialized working groups formed for each academic track. Each faculty member will have the freedom to choose the subject that aligns with their specific area of expertise. Despite anticipated challenges, such as limited time and resources, all attendees expressed their full commitment and readiness to accomplish this important academic endeavor.
The meeting resulted in several strategic recommendations, including:
- Forming an executive committee to oversee the project according to a specific timeline.
- Seeking to provide the necessary financial and technical support to produce the courses at the highest quality.
