English Department Discusses Enhancement of Educational Process and Quality of Outcomes

Islamic University of Minnesota - The Department of English Language and Literature at the College of Arts and Humanities at the Islamic University of Minnesota - Main Center - held an official meeting on Saturday, September 13, 2025. The meeting was chaired by the Head of the Department, Dr. Khaled Al-Shahawi, and attended by faculty members, in addition to Mr. Anas Ahmed Al-Sayyar, the Dean of the College.

The meeting addressed several issues on the agenda, most notably: reviewing and updating the department's vision and mission to align with the goals of the college and the university, and establishing a unified mechanism for preparing and grading final exams to ensure fairness and transparency among students. The discussion also covered the challenges faced by faculty members during the first semester and followed up on the completion of the university textbook.

Participants emphasized the need to unify efforts to develop the educational process and achieve high-quality academic outcomes, stressing the importance of completing the university textbook in a way that meets students' needs and serves the educational mission.

The meeting concluded with a number of recommendations, including: forming a committee to review and update the department's vision and mission, preparing a unified guide to regulate the final examination process, submitting a detailed report on the challenges faced by faculty members to the college deanship, and expediting the approval of the university textbook before the start of the next semester.

This meeting comes as part of the department's commitment to enhancing the quality of academic performance and advancing the educational process in line with the aspirations of the college and the university.
