Dr. Dua Qatnani Appointed Head of Educational Sciences Department
Dr. Omar Al-Maqrami, the vice president of the Islamic University of Minnesota and Head of the Main Center, issued a decision appointing Dr. Dua Bassam Mahmoud Qatnani as the Head of the Educational Sciences Department at the College of Educational Sciences on Tuesday, November 5, 2024.
Dr. Dua Qatnani, born in 1989, has an impressive academic background. She earned her Ph.D. in Special Education with a "Very Good" rating from the University of Jordan in 2019. She also holds a Master's degree in Special Education with an "Excellent" rating from the same university in 2013, and a Bachelor's degree in Special Education with an "Excellent" rating (first in her class) from Al-Hussein Bin Talal University in 2010.
In terms of research, Dr. Qatnani completed a comparative study on anxiety among students with learning difficulties and their peers, as well as another research titled "The Effectiveness of a Training Program to Improve Phonological Awareness in Reducing Expressive Language Problems."
Dr. Qatnani has been a faculty member at the Islamic University of Minnesota since June 13, 2022. She previously worked as a diagnostic and evaluation specialist at Princess Taghreed Institute in 2023, and taught and assessed various categories, including learning difficulties, slow learning, intellectual disabilities, and autism at Dar Al-Arqam Schools from 2013 to 2017. Additionally, she worked at KidZania Kindergarten in 2017 focusing on behavior modification, and served as a special education teacher (university training) at Ma'an Public School in 2010.
