Council of Faculty of Educational Sciences Holds Regular Meeting

The Council of the Faculty of Educational Sciences at the Islamic University of Minnesota convened its regular meeting, chaired by Professor Abdullah Abdulnabi, Dean of the Faculty, on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at 9 PM Mecca time.

During the meeting, the council discussed several agenda items, including the progress of the faculty's work and the follow-up on the submission of final exams. The council also addressed the topic of the Educational Sciences Journal Committee, discussing it with Assistant Professor Anas Odaibat, the journal's secretary. They agreed to follow up on the matter and present it to the Dean for approval, in coordination with the Director of the Scientific Research Unit, Assistant Professor Yusra Salama.

Additionally, the topic of honoring a faculty member was discussed, leading to the decision to form an internal committee within the Faculty of Educational Sciences to establish evaluation criteria. It was emphasized that the department chair would be best equipped to evaluate faculty members within their department. Dr. Mohammed Husni, Head of the Curriculum and Instruction Department, was nominated to lead this committee, and the council listened to the suggestions of department heads regarding the evaluation criteria, agreeing to send their proposals to Dr. Mohammed Husni.

Among the topics proposed was a suggestion from the Dean and Dr. Ali Dawahda to provide student advisors during thesis seminars, with the advisor being the student's supervisor thereafter.

Dr. Doa'a Qatnani raised the topic of thesis supervision, and it was agreed to coordinate between departments to ensure fairness among faculty members, including involving faculty from departments without graduate studies.

Attendees at the meeting included Dr. Mohammed Hosni, Head of the Curriculum and Instruction Department; Assistant Professor Hiba Abu Ayadah, Head of the Educational Administration Department; Dr. Doa'a Qatnani, Head of the Educational Sciences Department; Dr. Nabila Masoud, Head of the Early Childhood Department; Dr. Ali Dawahda, Vice Chair of the Educational Psychology Department; Dr. Laith Al-Zawahra, Vice Chair of the Family Counseling Department; Assistant Professor Anas Odaibat, Secretary of the Educational Sciences Journal; and Dr. Nourhan Salama, Administrative Affairs Officer for the Faculty of Educational Sciences.
