Department of Educational Psychology Holds Regular Meeting

The Department of Educational Psychology at the Islamic University of Minnesota, main campus, held its regular meeting chaired by Dr. Anas Nawafleh, the department head, on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at 8:00 PM Mecca time. The meeting was attended by a distinguished group of faculty members to discuss several important academic and administrative issues included in the agenda.
Dr. Anas Nawafleh opened the meeting by welcoming the faculty members, emphasizing the importance of regular meetings to enhance teamwork and exchange ideas on ways to develop the department academically and administratively.
The discussion of the "University Book" project topped the meeting's priorities. The department head highlighted the importance of this project in unifying knowledge sources for students and improving the quality of educational materials. He pointed out that the project represents a strategic step that requires joint effort and sufficient time to complete in accordance with the academic standards set by the university administration and the central curriculum unit.
Several faculty members expressed their full support for the project, confirming their readiness to participate in its authorship and preparation. Dr. Kawthar Al-Salout expressed her desire to contribute to the committee preparing the university book in the field of "Educational Psychology," while Dr. Ibrahim Naser showed interest in contributing to the preparation of content for the "Educational Counseling" course. Additionally, Dr. Waleed Jamal stressed the importance of scientific accuracy in writing university textbooks, noting the need to establish a clear timeline to ensure quality implementation. Dr. Kamal Al-Dhamour also pointed out the necessity of coordinating with the curriculum unit to ensure that the content aligns with the requirements of academic programs.
In another segment of the meeting, Dr. Ali Dawahda, the deputy head of the department, addressed the importance of adhering to deadlines for final exam submissions, emphasizing the need to carefully review all questions before approval, with the correct answers shaded in red for clarity and accuracy in grading. The attendees also discussed the necessity of monitoring student costs and ensuring they align with course objectives.
A portion of the meeting was dedicated to discussing preparations for the first semester. Dr. Anas Nawafleh emphasized the importance of distributing course schedules in a balanced and organized manner, taking into account the needs of students and the specialties of faculty members. He also highlighted the necessity of early preparation to ensure a strong start to the new semester and called for updating the educational content to align with scientific developments.
During the meeting, Dr. Hafidh Lasfar raised a question regarding the criteria for preparing the university book. The department head clarified these criteria, noting that they are based on reference guidelines approved by the central curriculum unit, encompassing academic, technical, and presentation aspects.
