Department of Curriculum Holds Its Regular Meeting

In preparation for the upcoming academic year, the Department of Curriculum and Teaching Methods at the College of Education held its regular meeting on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, from 9:00 PM to 10:00 PM, chaired by Dr. Mohammed Hosni, the department head, and attended by several faculty members, along with Dr. Noorhan Salama, the administrative affairs officer of the college.

The meeting opened with a welcoming speech from the department head, who expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the faculty members for their diligent and fruitful efforts during the summer semester, praising their dedication to the success of the educational process. He also extended special thanks to Dr. Noorhan Salama for her continuous administrative support.

The proceedings of the meeting included the following:

1. Welcoming New Members: Dr. Mohammed Hosni welcomed the new faculty member, emphasizing the importance of fostering a collaborative work environment. It was suggested to allocate time for introductions among members to strengthen cooperation within the department.

2. Discussion of the Start of the Academic Year: The department head stressed the need for a serious and organized start from the first day of classes. He emphasized that the first lecture should include introductions with students, provide a clear description of the course, and outline key assignments and requirements. He also highlighted the importance of adhering to the schedule and punctuality in lecture timings, along with effective teaching and interaction with students through course groups.

3. Supervision of Academic Theses: Dr. Mohammed Hosni affirmed that supervising academic theses is a right for all faculty members, calling for the adoption of principles of specialization and fairness in distributing supervision to ensure a balanced workload and achieve high academic quality.

4. University Textbook Committee: Dr. Talaat El-Dardir was tasked with forming a committee to prepare the university textbook within the department, responsible for developing a clear plan for producing textbooks specific to the department's courses and for improving academic content to meet quality and accreditation requirements.

5. New Business: The floor was opened for discussion to present new proposals and observations. The department head emphasized the importance of periodic follow-up on the agreements made, encouraging members to share their developmental insights to enhance the department's effectiveness.

Dr. Mohammed Hosni concluded the meeting by reiterating his thanks to all attendees, emphasizing the department's commitment to continuously follow up on the recommendations made during the meeting, and launching an academic year under the theme of "Excellence in Discipline and Academic Quality."
