Graduate Studies Department in the Faculty of Mass Communication Holds Meeting
Professor Hanan Sobhi Abdullah Obeid, the head of the Graduate Studies Department at the Faculty of Mass Communication, held a meeting on Saturday, May 18, 2024, with the active faculty members in the department to prepare for the upcoming summer semester.
At the beginning of the meeting, Professor Obeid welcomed the attendees before opening the discussion on several important topics, including preparation for the final exams, student costs and how to deal with them, finalizing course descriptions, and submitting the exams to the department head and their deputy before May 23 to be handed over to the examination control room.
Professor Obeid emphasized the importance of recording the costs' grades before the final exam, and the presence of the course instructors on the day of the exam to answer students' inquiries. She also stressed the necessity of providing an alternative exam in case of any technical emergencies.
Regarding the distribution of grades, the attendees agreed that the final exam would account for 60 points, coursework and assignments for 20 points, and attendance and absence for 20 points. They also agreed on the format of the exam and the student's answer method.
The meeting witnessed an interactive participation from the attendees, who provided suggestions regarding students' costs on the electronic portal to avoid the difficulties they faced in the previous semester.
In addition to the department head, the meeting was attended by the head of the Bachelor's department, the deputy head of the department, several faculty members, and the Graduate Studies department secretary.
