Islamic University of Minnesota Appoints New Dean of Media College

MINNESOTA, June 29, 2024  - The Islamic University of Minnesota (IUM), Main Center, has announced the appointment of Professor Abdulsalam Al-Wahati as the new Dean of the College of Media, succeeding Professor Abdulkarim Al-Wazzan, the founder and first Dean of the college.

This decision came after adjustments made by the university administration under the leadership of Dr. Omar Al-Maqrami, Vice President of the University and Head of the Main Center, to the administrative structure of the college. The adjustments also included the appointment of Professor Hanan Sobhi Abdullah Obeid as Head of the Graduate Studies Department and Vice Dean for Academic Affairs and Graduate Studies, and Associate Professor Dr. Badia Abdulqader as Head of the Department of Media and Public Relations - Bachelor's Degree and Vice Dean for Administrative and Financial Affairs.

In his first reaction to the appointment decision, Professor Al-Wahati expressed his gratitude to the university administration led by Dr. Omar Al-Maqrami, expressing his appreciation for the trust placed in him and praying to Allah to grant him success in his new role. He also thanked his colleagues at the college, especially Professor Abdulkarim Al-Wazzan, for their outstanding efforts during the previous period.

Professor Al-Wazzan had submitted his resignation from his position in an official letter, in which he thanked the university administration led by Dr. Omar Al-Maqrami for their support since the establishment of the Media Department at the university's branch in Senegal, and the establishment of the College of Media at the university. Al-Wazzan recommended that the faculty of the college continue their creativity and maintain the high standards of the college, which they built with professionalism and integrity.

For his part, Dr. Omar Al-Maqrami, Vice President of the University and Head of the Main Center, responded to the resignation letter, thanking Al-Wazzan for all his contributions to the college, emphasizing that he and his colleagues deserve great credit for laying the foundations of this distinguished college.
