College of Media Holds Meeting to Discuss Preparations for Final Exams
On October 4, 2024, Professor Abdulsalam Al-Wahati, Dean of the College of Media at the Islamic University of Minnesota (main center), held a meeting with members of the College Council and the Advisory Board to discuss the college’s preparations for the final exams of the first semester of the 2024/2025 academic year, as well as to address several important topics concerning faculty members and students.
Al-Wahati began the meeting by welcoming the attendees and expressing his gratitude to Professor Waleed Al-Maneesi, President of the University, and Dr. Omar Al-Maqrami, Vice President of the University, for their continued support of the college. He also commended the efforts of the faculty members, which contributed to the successful completion of all lectures during the first semester, making the college one of the leading departments in terms of academic progress.
During the meeting, the dean emphasized the importance of maintaining excellence and dedication to improve the educational process in the upcoming semesters. He pointed out that the college’s plan to provide substitutes and the cooperation between faculty members and department heads successfully addressed the absence of some professors due to unforeseen circumstances.
Al-Wahati also reviewed the college's preparations for the upcoming final exams and shared reports from Dr. Hanan Sobhi Obaid, Head of the Graduate Studies Department and Academic Vice Dean, and Dr. Badea Abdulqader, Head of the Bachelor's Department and Administrative Vice Dean, stating that preparations are well underway, with exam questions and the class schedules for the second semester already distributed.
Regarding academic collaboration, the meeting approved partnerships with three international institutions for organizing conferences, conducting professional diploma programs, publishing academic books, printing master's and doctoral theses, and publishing promotion research. The meeting also approved the launch of several accredited professional diploma programs in fields aligned with the job market, such as artificial intelligence, digital transformation, design and editing, graphic arts, journalism, etiquette and protocol, and documentary filmmaking.
Additionally, the meeting approved the establishment of a training unit for participants from both within and outside the university, along with the creation of a research and consultancy unit, and an external media and communication unit.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Professor Al-Wahati thanked the council members for their positive cooperation, wishing them continued success in future projects.
