Dean of College of Media Holds Meeting with Members of Mini Council

Professor Abdel Salam Al-Wahati, Dean of the College of Media at the Islamic University of Minnesota, held a meeting on Friday, May 9, 2025, with members of the mini council of the college, including the Head of the Graduate Studies Department, the Scientific Deputy Dean, Professor Hanan Sobhi Obeid, and the Head of the Bachelor’s Department, the Administrative Deputy Dean, Associate Professor Badia Abdulqader.
The meeting addressed several important topics, primarily ensuring the delivery of exams and the grading of summer semester assignments. It was decided to open the floor for faculty members to choose courses for the upcoming semester, considering their specialization, with each professor allowed to select only one course, starting with the undergraduate level. Priority for selecting graduate and doctoral courses would be given to faculty members with higher academic ranks.
Dean Al-Wahati announced the approval of the university's proposal to prepare a university textbook for each academic stage, sharing his vision for this project aimed at benefiting students, faculty, and the university.
He also announced the activation of the college's four departments at the graduate level under the supervision of the Head of the Graduate Studies Department, with the following name changes:
- Media Production Department instead of the Radio and Television Department.
- International Public Relations Department instead of the Public Relations Department.
- Retaining the names of the Journalism Department and the Digital Media Department as they are.
Additionally, the dean appointed Ms. Basnat Ahmed Labeeb as the Director of Public Relations in the Dean's Office and Ms. Rehab Said Abduladhim as the Director of the Dean's Office. The meeting also approved the integration of new faculty appointments, which will be subject to training courses on the college's and university's teaching methods.
