Important Meeting at the College of Media

The College of Media held an important meeting on the evening of Tuesday, June 17, 2025, chaired by Professor Abdulsalam Al-Wahati, the dean of the college, with the presence of faculty members. This meeting aimed to prepare for the upcoming first semester of the academic year 2025/2026 and to enhance the college's academic programs and institutional work.

At the beginning of the meeting, the dean expressed his gratitude to Professor Waleed Al-Menisi, the university president, and Dr. Omar Al-Maqrami, the university vice president and head of the main center, for their continuous support of the college. He also thanked the deans of university departments and section heads for their cooperation in making the summer semester a success.

Professor Al-Wahati then welcomed the new faculty members, emphasizing the importance of their swift integration into the college's academic environment to support the educational and research processes. He encouraged them to participate in training courses to develop their skills related to the educational platform. The participants also discussed the ongoing preparations for the new academic year, with the dean stressing the need to activate and restructure the curricula and courses committee, as well as to energize the research and consulting unit by adding new members and collaborating with external institutions for funded research.

The meeting also addressed ways to activate the graduate studies departments, where certain titles were approved for modification to align with contemporary trends in the media field. The department of "Radio and Television" was renamed to "Media Production," and "Public Relations" became "International Public Relations," while the titles for "Journalism" and "Digital Media" were retained as they are.

In a related context, the dean announced the approval to initiate the university textbook project and invited faculty members to participate in this important initiative, emphasizing the necessity of having a basic academic reference for each course to enhance the quality of student learning and organize the educational process at the college. He stressed the importance of taking responsibility towards the students.

The meeting was attended by several prominent academic figures, including Professor Hanan Sobhi Obaid, head of the graduate studies department, Dr. Badee'a Abdulqader, head of the undergraduate department, and various faculty members.

The meeting concluded by opening the floor for attendees to present their opinions and suggestions. The dean addressed all inquiries raised and expressed his full readiness to support any initiatives aimed at developing the college academically and administratively, in line with the university's vision and mission.
